The Baltic Smart Water Hub was launched in the framework of the project IWAMA – Interactive Water Management and further developed in the BSR WATER platform project – Platform for Integrated Water Cooperation. The projects were funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014–2020.

IWAMA project (March 2016 – April 2019, EUR 4.6 mln) aimed at improving wastewater management in the Baltic Sea Region by developing the capacity of wastewater treatment operators, increasing energy efficiency and advancing sludge handling.
BSR WATER platform (October 2018 – September 2021, EUR 1.1 mln) aims to enhance cross-sectoral cooperation in smart water management by providing a possibility for transnational experience exchange, and delivering comprehensive policy overview.
